I am going to try to explain this with as much detail as possible and without writing a novel. If it seems long I am sorry.
I live in a two story town home which consists of a half bath down stairs, two full baths up and the washer and dryer upstairs. The washer and dryer is located directly above the kitch with a full bath next to it. The second full bath is at the back of the house directly above the downstairs half bath.
A few weeks ago the kitchen sink started backing up and overflowing on the kitchen floor when we used the full bath above it or the washer which is also above it. It does not overflow when we use the half bath downstairs or the other full bath upstairs which is at the back of the house. I am assuming based on previous experience that the plumbing for the washer and first full bath upstairs route down through the kitchen and then out to the half bath and clean out which is located on the outside wall outside of the half bath down stairs. I believe the clog is between the kitchen and the half bath since there is no backup at the cleanout or the half bath downstairs.
Problem is we have snaked it and used every unstopping chemical known to man and just cannot get it undone. There is no standing water and it drains slowly but any large amounts of water from the washer or bathtub backs into the sink. The snake we are using looks to have mud on the end of it but recently my fiance has been doing some home renovations and has come home very muddy… hoping the mud we are finding is from that.
Any other ideas on what to do? I am fortunate that I work for a large rental outfit so I have access to a pipe camera but it is gonna take atleast a week to get the done. Obviously I don’t want to live with sewer backing into the sink.
Thanks everyone for responding!!
Unfortunately, the only place I have to access any plumbing outside of my home is the clean out to the main drain. I am assuming because it is a townhouse and I have neighbors joined on both sides of me (won’t be buying one of these ever again!!).
They tried to go backwards into the house from the main clean out to see if maybe it could be loosened from the other end but we are unable to get it to feed in backwards. Currently we are using a commercial rental unit. We did see the pipe plug thing at the hardware store but I do have access to a commercial sewer jet on Monday which I thought may do a better job.
For the moment we have called a plumber in hopes they have access to a camera today because we can’t seem to imagine going another week like this.
I recently went in with my parents on a 5 year fixed mortgage. They could afford the house without me but I put my name on it to get a housing allowance from my company. I now want to buy my own home but require my name off the mortgage in order to get financing (on my own). The banker said that my parents would have to refinance the mortgage and pay a fine for canceling the 5 year fixed mortgage. We just wish to remove my name not redo the mortgage.
It seems that restaurants are become so corporate and profit driven that they have destroyed the whole dining out experience.
We recently dined at DeVito’s in Miami and it was the most un pleasant experience we ever had. the Miami Spice menu was nowhere to be seen, instead we had the sales pitch from the waiter.
Our bill came to a few cents short of 0 for two entrees and a mediocre average bottle of wine!
We were shocked. When we tried to query we were almost threatened by the nastiest manager we have ever encountered. His name was ‘Paulo’. As menacing as anything you’ve ever seen in Godfather 1, 2 or 3!
DeVitos has more hype than substance, it has to be America’s most expensive restaurant. Never again!
Whatever happened to good old Italian hospitality. Do you think certain restaurants are so crporate and greed driven that they are killing off the pleasantries of the dining out experience?
Like the one found at http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/pregnancy_information/chinese_calendar.htm? I tried it, and it says I’m having a girl this time (still have several months to wait before an ultrasound will hopefully be able to tell). I checked it with my previous 5 pregnancies, and it was 100% accurate for them. What are the chances that it will be as accurate this time around? Anyone else had such good results?
Where can I find information on programs for small business loans for people with dual citizenship? My husband is officially a dual citizen of the United States and Germany. We found information on loans for veterans (he was in the military) but nothing on dual citizenship. There must be a program out there!
I hesitantly knocked on the small, weathered door and stepped back to rest against the cool cement wall behind me sighing with apprehension. I heard footsteps approach quickly and the battered wood was replaced by Zorin standing tall in the tiny doorway.
“Hello Elaise” he said with a tiny smile “please come in.”
I pushed off from the wall and followed Zorin, turning my head to gather in the characteristics of his bedroom. The bathroom door was open and I could see that the mirror was foggy with steam which made me look at his hair and I noted that it was damp. His bed was unmade and clothes were strewn about on chairs and his couch. I stopped and hesitated in the middle of the room, this was much too personal and it made me feel uncomfortable.
“Are you alright?” he asked and I turned to see him sitting on the piano stool of his grand piano which was placed where a dining room table should’ve been.
“Fine” I stammered barely able to get the words out as he looked at me with a quizzical expression.
“If you don’t want to do this anymore that’s fine” he said quietly, eyes dulling.
“Oh no, of course I do! Any way I can help” I said quickly and came over to the piano, placing my bag on the floor.
“Now what is it you want me to do?” I said smiling at him.
He got up and went over to a large bookcase, suddenly excited at my enthusiasm, and began pulling piano music from the shelves.
“I haven’t really decided what I’m singing yet. It’s a toss up between The Scientist by Coldplay or Come What May from the movie Moulin Rouge.” He tilted his head and looked at me expectantly waiting for an opinion.
“I don’t know either of the songs” I replied, looking down at my feet as he gaped at me in surprise.
“You’ve never heard of Coldplay?” He asked incredulously.
“Er, no I don’t think so.”
“You’ve never seen the movie Moulin Rouge? You know the one with Nicole Kidman and Ewan Mcgregor.”
“I’m afraid not” I murmured, his gaze making me feel uncomfortable.
He shook his head with disbelief “well, we’ll have to fix that then won’t we” he said and marched over to his CD player, flicking through a number of CD’s stacked precariously on top of the table.
“Ah” he said triumphantly and waved the CD to me from across the room. I smiled back at him and he bent over to insert the disk into the player and clicked the search button to find the right track. Piano chords filled the room and Zorin straightened up to walk over to me. It was the type music I would normally have shied away from but today with Zorin coming towards me it was beautiful. As he came closer I thought we were going to embrace but instead he brushed past intimately to sit back down on the lowered stool.
“What do you think?” He questioned.
I sucked in my breath and turned to him with a ready smile. “It’s wonderful.”
He nodded “and what do you think of the piano, could you play it?”
I listened again to the song. The chords were simple enough and the harmony was straightforward.
“Of course, do you have sheet music for it?”
He inclined his head to the paper already set out on the holder and patted the space next to him on the stool.
I sat down on the bench, my breath becoming shallow as our arms touched. Zorin reached across me and picked up a remote that was resting on the piano ledge and stopped the music.
“You can play it through first and then on the second time I’ll sing it with you.”
“Ok” I mumbled, intimidated at our closeness. I pressed my hands to the cold keys and began to play the notes in front of me. Zorin hummed along, determining the pitch he needed for certain parts of the song. When I finished the run through, Zorin reached into his pocket to pull out a pair of tortoise shell glasses and placed them on his face giving him an old-fashioned, academic look.
“All right, lets get started then” he smiled and I began to play the song, this time not needing to read the music. Zorin waited for his cue and when he began his deep voice resonated throughout the room as he sung “Tell you I need you; tell you I’ve set you apart. Nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be so hard, I’m going back to the start.” The lyrics made me tense up and his warm breath gently touched my cheek. My hands faltered on the keys and I stopped, letting them fall into my lap.
Zorin looked down on me in confusion “what’s wrong?”
“I’m sorry, could you…maybe it would be better if you stood.” I didn’t dare look up to see his face.
“Oh, sorry…are you? Er, ok then, maybe its best…you know, so that I can hit the notes properly.” Zorin stood up and walked around to the side of the piano and stood facing me. He pulled his shirt down and cleared his throat with a little frown on his face.
He raised his eyes to look at me from the paper he was holding “are you ready?” He asked without the confidence he had before. I caught the hurt tone in his voice and blushed. I knew that it was already difficult for him to sing in front of me and he was making the effort to come off as casual about the situation. Why did I have to add to the circumstance and make everything awkward?
“Maybe that’s enough for today” I suggested and rose from the seat, grabbing my bag which was leaning against the piano leg.
“But you only just got here” Zorin said, baffled at my sudden change in attitude, following me to the door. I pulled the handle and halted in the frame, spinning around and almost bumping into Zorin who was close behind me.
“Did I do something?” He asked with concern, his eyes showing his hurt.
“Tomorrow night at seven?” I posed, avoiding his question.
“You want to continue?” he asked in shock.
“Of course I do, I just can’t continue tonight” I said.
“Well if you’re still keen, I’ll see you tomorrow evening and show you that other song” he responded with a tiny smile.
“I look forward to it” I said and gave him a wave before I turned to run back along the corridor and out into the cold night air towards my dorm, feeling ashamed at my childish behaviour.
I did a mold air test because i have been having so many health problems lately and have been to the doctor close to 20 times and they havent found a thing wrong. After realizing that these problems started after moving into a new home, i decided maybe i should conduct an air mold test. Well, i did that and i just checked the tray and there is a LOT of mold growing in there… im supposed to send it off to see if it is toxic or not. I will probably do that tomorrow. But in the meantime, if since there are literally NO visable signs of mold in my home… how would i figure out where it is?? Would i seriously have to rip all of my walls apart just to look in them?? Because then i would have to replace every single one of them, even if it turns out some dont have mold wouldnt i?? Sorry, i dont know much about home renovations… i am renting this home though so even if that is what has to be done shouldnt the landlord be held responsible for that?
Yes, i live in ga and have central air. thank you.
We are looking for an Egypt-Jordan tour, about 15 days, for next year. We’ve found either budget ones, such as Gap and Intrepid, or luxury ones, such as A&K or Tauck. Budget tours seem to pick crappy hotels and are uncomfortable sometimes (overnight boats with no restrooms, camping, etc.) and luxury tours can cost around 00 for what we want. Do you know of any mid-range tour operators that can offer us a complete tour, ok hotels, including a short cruise down the Nile and Petra, for around 00-00?
