Is it worth converting a basement storage to a bedroom?

We have a 10×13 foot storage room in our basement. We are looking to sell our home within the next year. Is it worth renovating this room into a 4th bedroom for re-sale purposes? The house is about 1900 sq. ft.currently.
We would need to add an egress window but the rest of the renovation could be done fairly cheaply as the walls are set and most of the drop ceiling is already set. What would it add to the value of the house? Thanks

What should I call my home reno/DIY blog?

My husband and I just bought our first home and we’re going to start a blog to document the renovation process. Also, we really enjoy finding old things from thrift stores, garage sales, etc. and fixing them up, so we want to be able to share some of those before and afters, too. We want the name to be meaningful/personal, so here’s a little about us: It’s just the two of us. We’ve been married for two years, just graduated from college, and are now working in the business world, and trying to balance work with more work at home! ;)

We need a name for our blog that gives an idea of what the blog is about, without limiting our posts to the house only. We want to be able to post about our other projects, too (i.e. upcycled furniture). Also, my husband likes the idea of using our address number, 500, in the name or the name of the house, Midland, but these don’t have to be included. Any suggestions?

What type of home would you prefer to have?

Would you prefer a renovation project that just needs a little love? A house that is move in ready? Or would you rather build your own house?

Information on home renovations?

I’m wondering the cost of digging a basement deeper or raising it. Its currently 5.5 feet, unfinished and I’d ultimately like to make it a liveable space. I also would like to know the approximate cost of raising my second storey ceilings. They are about 7 feet and have sloped ceilings. I also have an addition on the main floor that I would like to build a second story on top of if thats possible?.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What is the best book for first time DIY home renovations?

I am very interested in home renovation, such as kitchens/bathrooms/etc., and was wondering what book is best for first time DIYers. I want a book which is detailed on the proper ways of demolition to finishing, and plus what tools and materials we should use.

A few books that I found were:
Make It Right : Inside Home Renovation with Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor by Mike Holmes
Renovation: Completely Revised and Updated by Michael W. Litchfield
Black & Decker Complete Home Improvement: with 300 Projects and 2,000 Photos (Black & Decker Complete Photo Guide)
Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual: Completely Revised and Updated

any other book suggestions?

ok i don't understand the whole renovation thing, (read more)?

Ok i get that some people want to update their homes, but what doesn’t make sense to me is the return on the investment. Why spend k on a kitchen remodel if when you sell you are only going to recoup about 80-90 %. Wouldn’t it be wiser to hold on to that 10K and if/when you decide to sell you will have that money to buy a more updated home. I mean why spend 10K for someone to give you 00-00 in return?

Know any Home improvements shows that…?

I know that there are shows like "This Old House" that follow home renovations but are there any that follow complete home building instead?

What renovations can you do to fix up a home?

Just wondering if any one has any ideas on different renovations you can do to make your house look better. I have a split entry house that is about 20 years old. It is surrounded by older homes, that make the street look sketchy. However, I want to add some new things to my house to make it look somewhat better. Any suggestions?
