We have a VERY small kitchen. Any opinions on knocking out the wall between the kitchen and dining room?

The kitchen is teeny tiny. The former owners even put cupboards over one of the 2 windows. We have been thinking about knocking out the wall between the kitchen and dining room (which is also not large, but about twice as big as the kitchen) and making it one large kitchen area. I’m worried about #1- cost, #2- what it would do to resale value of the house. Any thoughts? Opinions?

Usually when you update a kitchen, it adds to the value of the house. Just make sure the wall you knock out isn’t supporting anything.

The cost. You need to decide what you need to make the kitchen workable for you.
then from that, find out how much it will cost.
then can you afford it?
the dining room could be turned into a kitchen diner and the old kitchen used as a utility room where all the washing Ironing drying and freezer is stored.
you can buy freestanding units from places such as Ikea.
lots of places will do a plan of the two rooms if you take the measurements
then you will get a better idea what will or won’t work.
AS far as when you sell it. as long as the work is done correctly then it will be up to the new owners to do it up to suit them.

As an X realtor, I can tell you that people like a formal dining area.. How about making a half wall and having a bar for seating? If you make the top wide, you can put cabinets under the counter and still have rom for your legs. Maybe the cabinets can open on the side that is not used for the seating. You wil then have storage and seating at the half wall. If you just open in the center, you can have cabinets on the top also.

ok DO NOT KNOCK THE WHOLE WALL DOWN!!!!!!!!!! what you need to do i create an opening there and make it like a breakfast bar. this will make your house seem more open and inviting. this will make the houses value skyrocket. if you knocked the whole wall down it would seem akward
